NFL Power Rankings: Week 5

16 – Los Angeles Rams (2-2)

PR – NR

Cooper Kupp should be back this week! (I really hope my report on this is much more accurate than my reporting on Green Bay’s Christian Watson) That fact alone put them into my top 16. Kupp is an exciting player to watch and I can’t wait to see how the Rams use both him and Puka Nacua.

15 – Houston Texans (2-2)

PR - NR

What an absolute beatdown of the Pittsburgh Steelers! Final score was 30-6. All aspects of the Texan’s game looked good! QB CJ Stroud still hasn’t thrown a pick. WR Nico Collins had his 2nd monster week of the season and the defense had 3 sacks and 1 INT. With each passing week, CJ Stroud looks like the best rookie of this class.

14 – Green Bay Packers (2-2)

PR – 10

After touting their come-from-behind win the week before, the Packers made me look awful with their horrendous performance against the Lions. The offense didn’t get going until the 2nd half and they had too many mistakes in the first half that led to easy points for the Lions. Mistakes like that don’t cut it in this league.

13 – Cleveland Browns (2-2)

PR – 9

Okay. I’m not saying that QB Deshaun Watson is a top 10 QB in the league but he is so much better than QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson. I mean the guy only mustered up 121 yards passing and had 3 INTs. Watson needs to get healthy soon if the Browns want to be competitive in any games at all.

12 – Jacksonville Jaguars (2-2)

PR – NR

Not going to lie, the whole Disney, animated game was actually pretty cool. The Jaguars defense was the star this week. They forced Atlanta QB Desmond Ridder into his worst professional game of his career. Ridder has 3 career INTs and 2 of them came against the Jags. They also forced Ridder into having a fumble. Jags defense is formidable.

11 – Los Angeles Chargers (2-2)

PR – 14

QB Justin Herbert didn’t have his best game against the Raiders. I mean anytime a superstar QB doesn’t throw for more than 200+ yards, it’s a little concerning. But thankfully, the defense aka Khalil Mack came to the rescue. The man had 6 sacks in one game!

10 – Seattle Seahawks (3-1)

PR – 11

Buckle up because we are going to talk defense again! Seahawks absolutely destroyed the Giants O Line to the tune of 11 sacks. The Giants O Line is either really bad or the Seahawks defense is just really good. I’m leaning towards the former (obviously).

9 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1)

PR - 12

QB Baker Mayfield is actually a solid QB. He might have found his forever home in Tampa Bay. He lost WR Mike Evans pretty early in the game to a hamstring injury yet he still put together a very complete and efficient game.

8 – Baltimore Ravens (3-1)

PR – 6

I mean they won, but they beat a QB Deshaun Watson less Browns team. Can’t put too much stock in that win. It was a Mark Andrews breakout game though with his 2 TDs. He’s back!

7 – Detroit Lions (3-1)

PR – 7

I feel so bad for any RB Jahmry Gibbs owners out there. He gets no work. RB David Montgomery went off for 3 TDs after being questionable to play all week. But in other news, there is good news and bad news out of the WR room. Good news - WR Jameson Williams is coming back early from his gambling suspension. Bad news – WR Amon-Ra St. Brown has an undisclosed abdominal injury and may be out this week.

6 – Dallas Cowboys (3-1)

PR – 8

Absolutely smacked the Patriots with a final score of 38-3. They are slowly moving back up the rankings after falling so far with the loss to the Cardinals. Big game against the 49ers coming up on Sunday Night Football.

5 – Miami Dolphins (3-1)

PR – 2

The Dolphins were handed their first loss of the year at the hands of the Bills. It was a blow out with the final score of 48-20 but I never felt that the Dolphins were ever actually out of it. That is how explosive this offense is. They can go off at anytime and put 30+ on your defense. They obviously didn’t against the Bills, but they can. Also RB De’Von Achane was a good waiver wire pick. This kid is here to stay.

4 – Kansas City Chiefs (3-1)

PR - 5

Squeaked by and beat the Jets. Some say it was a hold against the Jets, some say it was the refs making sure that the Chiefs won with Taylor Swift in the building. Either way, a win is a win. The Chiefs defense is concerning though. Can’t get picked apart by Zach Wilson and expect to be a Super Bowl contender.

3 – Buffalo Bills (3-1)

PR - 4

Had a very impressive win against the Dolphins. The defense held strong and held the Dolphins to 20 points. Anytime you can keep them under 25, it’s a win. WR Stefon Diggs went absolutely crazy in that game. The guy went off for 120 yards and 3 TDs. If there was any concern in the Allen – Diggs relationship, there surely isn’t anymore.

2 – Philadelphia Eagles (4-0)

PR – 3

Their OT win against the Commanders was not their best performance but like I said earlier, a win is a win. The Eagles need to clean up their penalty problem. But on the bright side, it seems like the relationship between Hurts and Brown has been mended.

1 – San Francisco 49ers (4-0)

PR – 1

Another 30+ point performance for this 49ers offense but this time, it was fueled by RB Christian McCaffery and not QB Brock Purdy. I mean Purdy definitely helped out but McCaffery stole the show. 20 carries for 106 yards and 3 TDs and even added 7 receptions for 71 yards and a TD. Do it all type of back.
