NFL Waiver Wire Picks: Week 6

Teams on BYE: Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers

QB: Matthew Stafford – Los Angeles Rams

-33.9% rostered

-16.88 points against Philadelphia Eagles

-21/37 for 222 yards and 2 TD

Now Matthew Stafford isn’t the same big name that he used to be but he is still a very viable streaming QB. By the time next week rolls around, he will have had another week with his best bud, WR Cooper Kupp. As we just saw against the Eagles, the Rams and Stafford can sustain 2 WR1s in Kupp and Puka Nacua. Having two superstar WRs just helps Staffords’ cause and will help him put up good fantasy numbers without having the rushing ability. Up next the Rams and Stafford play the Arizona Cardinals. This same Cardinals team allow an average of 20.9 fantasy points to opposing QBs.

RB: Jaleel McLaughlin – Denver Broncos

-48.4% rostered

-17.9 points against the New York Jets

-9 carries for 68 yards. Added 3 rec for 21 yards and a TD

The Denver Broncos are far from a fantasy goldmine like the Packers are but McLaughlin is the safest RB wavier wire pick in this absolutely depleted RB market. Sure, the Broncos are splitting time between RB Semaje Perine and McLaughlin but the later has been having better fantasy weeks and is more efficient over the last 2 games. Up next the Broncos play the Chiefs. The Chiefs score a lot and the Broncos defense is not very good. I see the Broncos being down early which will force them into passing situations which is where McLaughlin thrives. He has had 2 receiving TDs over the last 2 games.

WR: Josh Downs – Indianapolis Colts

-10.9% rostered

-15.7 points against Tennessee Titans

-6 receptions on 6 targets for 97 yards

Josh Downs has shown that he has a great relationship with QB Gardner Minshew II. Since QB Anthony Richardson has an AC Joint sprain, Minshew is the starting QB for at least the next month. How good is Downs’ relationship with Minshew? So good that Downs has 23 targets in the 3 games that Minshew has played in. This pick is all about volume and he has a lot of it. Up next the Colts play against the Jaguars who allow the 19th most fantasy points to opposing WRs.

TE: Logan Thomas – Washington Commanders

-8.1% rostered

-20.7 points against the Chicago Bears

-9 receptions on 11 targets for 77 yards and a TD

I have to run this back from last week. I mean the man had 20.7 points and was the 4th highest scoring TE on the week. The TE market is so barren so when you find a gem like this, you have to keep it going for as long as you can. Thomas is a huge part of this Commanders’ gameplan and his production has coincided with QB Sam Howell’s rise up the QB ranks. It pretty much means that Logan Thomas is making Sam Howell the amazing QB that he is. That may be a hyperbole but either way Thomas getting targets is making this Commanders team watchable. Up next they play the Falcons who are 28th against fantasy TEs allowing an average of 10.6 points (which is a lot for a TE, btw).
