MLB Power Rankings: Week 11
12. Detroit Tigers (31-30)
After a few weeks absence, the Tigers return to the power rankings. They have won 8 of their last 12 games and are above .500 for the first time since early May. In a very competitive AL Central, they are still 9.5 games back of first place. However, they are currently just 2.5 games back of the third wild card spot. Detroit should be a team in the mix for a postseason spot this season.
11. Minnesota Twins (33-27)
The rollercoaster that is the Minnesota Twins continues, after a terrible losing skid, they are in the middle of a 9-4 stretch that has them sitting in the third wild card position in the AL. Royce Lewis made his return from the IL last week and homered. He will be a big addition to the offense that struggles to find consistency.
10. San Diego Padres (32-32)
The Padres got a very impressive series win against the Royals last weekend. Although they are still 7 games back of first in the NL West, they have been a consistent wild card threat in the NL. San Diego is the current MLB leader in team batting average at .259.
9. Seattle Mariners (35-27)
The Mariners have won 8 of their last 9 games, all against AL West opponents. Their recent surge against division rivals have created some separation as the currently own a 5.5 game lead.
8. Milwaukee Brewers (36-25)
Another team that has created some separation on top of their division is the Brewers. After a 4-game series win against the Cubs, Milwaukee has a 6 game lead in the NL Central. They have won 9 of their last 12 games.
7. Atlanta Braves (34-24)
Despite how many major injuries the Braves have sustained this season, they are still a great team. With how well the Phillies are looking this season, a division title is unlikely, but Atlanta is looking like a lock for the top wild card spot in the NL. They will have to stop the bleeding on the injury side and possibly add a piece or two at the trade deadline to boost their ranking.
6. Kansas City Royals (36-26)
The Royals are hitting their first major losing skid this season, having lost 7 of their last 9 games. They have built themselves a solid buffer and still hold the second place position in the AL Central, although they are now 5 games back. Kansas City will look to turn the tide this week with a big weekend series against the Mariners.
5. Cleveland Guardians (40-20)
The Guardians continue to be the top dog in the AL Central and have won 13 of their last 16 games. That model of consistency has been there all season long and has not shown any signs of slowing down.
4. Los Angeles Dodgers (38-24)
The Dodgers offense has gone through a collective slump of late. On the bright side, the pitching has been great, having allowed 3 runs or less in 8 of their last 9 games. That has allowed them to continue a decent winning stretch of 5 of 6 games and maintain a comfortable lead in the NL West.
3. Baltimore Orioles (39-20)
After getting swept by the Cardinals a couple weeks ago, the Orioles have won 10 of their last 12 games. It’s just another sign that this team is part of the elite teams in the league. The Yankees have been incredible but Baltimore has been on their heels the whole season, currently just 2.5 games behind them in the AL East.
2. New York Yankees (43-19)
The Yankees have won 17 of their last 21 games. They are in first place in the AL East. Gerrit Cole is close to his return and as a team have the best pitching stats in the league. Juan Soto and Aaron Judge are raking. Things are going very well in the Bronx.
1. Philadelphia Phillies (43-19)
The Phillies are the most complete team in the league. They have an elite starting rotation, a great lineup and bullpen, and the biggest division lead. There’s simply nothing bad to say about Philly right now.
