NFL Waiver Wire Picks: Week 10
Teams on BYE: Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles
QB: Baker Mayfield – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
-44.3% rostered
-19 points against Houston Texans
-21/30 for 265 yards and 2 TDs. Added 4 rushes for 4 yards
It is admittedly getting harder and harder to find a usable waiver wire QB with each passing week so this week, my pick is Baker Mayfield. He has been pretty solid all season long and is averaging 18.86 fantasy points over the last 3 weeks. Crazy thing is, he put up 21.38 points against a stingy Buffalo Bills defense 2 weeks ago. One of the main reasons I picked Mayfield this week is his seemingly improved relationship with all of his pass catchers but most notably with TE Cade Otton. These relationships should help Mayfield as the season goes on. Another reason is because he has a 4:0 TD to INT ratio over the last couple games. He doesn’t beat himself. Up next he plays against a Titans defense that is middle of the pack against QBs.
RB: Tyler Allgeier – Atlanta Falcons
-48.2% rostered
-11 points against Minnesota Vikings
-12 carries for 39 yards and a TD
I hate this pick. If you know me, you know why. I have been putting off picking Allgeier all year but here it is. I honestly don’t understand Arthur Smith and the Falcons. They invest heavily in a highly talented RB in Bijan Robinson but continue to use Allgeier more. He has out-touched Robinson virtually every single game this season and continues to get more goal line work than Robinson. I don’t understand why but that’s just how the cookie crumbles in Atlanta. Allegier will continue to get more work over Robinson as long as Smith is the head coach (unfortunately). Major reason why I picked Allgeier is because they play the Arizona Cardinals next. This Cardinals defense is 3rd worst against fantasy running backs, averaging 27.5 points allowed per game.
WR: Demario Douglas – New England Patriots
-20.8% rostered
-10.5 points against Washington Commanders
-5 receptions on 7 targets for 55 yards
I have to give Tradon props for picking Douglas last week. I thought it was such a good pick that I’m picking him myself this week. The Patriots have a sorry offense with so few explosive weapons. Whenever a talented WR like Douglas comes along, a huge spotlight gets shines on him. Demario Douglas is a good WR and QB Mac Jones likes him. As a WR, having a QB that likes you is half the battle. Douglas has seen 20 targets over the last 3 games. Elite numbers. He should continue to see number like that since Kendrick Bourne is out for the season and JuJu still sucks at football. Douglas and the Patriots play against the Indianapolis Colts next. The Colts defense give up an average of 35.4 fantasy points to opposing offense’s WR rooms.
TE: Cade Otton -Tampa Bay Buccaneers
-7.4% rostered
-23 points against Houston Texans
-6 receptions on 9 targets for 70 yards and 2 TD
I’m taking a page out of Tyler’s book and stacking the QB and TE for this week’s waiver wire picks. As I mentioned earlier, Otton and QB Baker Mayfield have cultivated a great relationship. A relationship where Otton sees 21 targets over the last 3 games. If you thought those numbers were elite, think again. For a TE, those numbers are astronomical aka in the same stratosphere as Travis Kelce. Now, I’m not saying Otton is the next Travis Kelce, but I am saying he has plenty of opportunity to score a lot of fantasy points. Otton is a huge part of this Buccaneers gameplan and that isn’t going to change moving forward.
