MLB Power Rankings: Week 3

12 - Colorado Rockies (10-5)

(PR: NR)

Okay, I’ll get the Rockies some credit this week. I really don’t think it will last long but Connor Joe and CJ Cron are leading a team that ranks 1st in the league in slugging, 2nd in batting average and 4th in on-base percentage.

11 - Tampa Bay Rays (9-7)

(PR: 10)

The Rays got two series wins against the Cubs and Red Sox. Wander Franco is one of the most exciting players to watch and the season Ji-Man Choi is having is also very entertaining. They have one of the deepest pitching staffs in the big leagues and they should continue to stay competitive.

10 - Milwaukee Brewers (10-6)

(PR: NR)

After a slow first week, the Brew Crew had themselves a nice 5-1 week against the Pirates and Phillies. The offense is still insanely horrible, ranking 28th in team batting average and bottom 5 in pretty much everything else. It’s the same story as last year, the pitching is gonna carry this team.

9 - San Diego Padres (10-7)

(PR: 8)

The Padres managed to walk off the Dodgers on Saturday but the other two games of that series weren’t even close, as they were outscored 16-3. The bullpen is a real issue for them but they will get enough from their starting pitching to stay competitive.

8 - New York Yankees (10-6)

(PR: 9)

Despite the embarrassment that was their fan base throwing trash at opposing players on Saturday, the Yankees had a great week, going 5-1. The pitching continues to be a strong point for the team and the offense is slowly picking up the pace.

7 - Seattle Mariners (10-6)

(PR: NR)

Here they come, the Mariners are looking to end a 21-year postseason drought in 2022 and it’s off to a great start. They are playing every facet of the game well, ranking top 10 in pretty much everything. Also, take a look at the start to the season Ty France is having - .375 AVG, 5 HR, 19 RBI.

6 - Chicago White Sox (6-9)

(PR: 3)

Sheesh! 7 game losing streak for the White Sox. That’s never good to have at any point of the season but it looks way worse when it happens at the start. They look very bad right now but I’m giving them a grace period because this is a very good team.

5 - St. Louis Cardinals (9-5)

(PR: 6)

The Cardinals beat up on the Reds and Marlins last week and continue to pitch very well, currently ranking 5th in team ERA. They need more production on the offensive side from guys not named Arenado and Edman to continue to their hot start to the season.

4 - Toronto Blue Jays (10-6)

(PR: 5)

Two big road series wins against the Red Sox and Astros have the Blue Jays moving up one spot in the power rankings. Vlad Jr. is having another incredible season so far but also keep an eye on Alek Manoah, who could be their next big star on the mound.

3 - San Francisco Giants (11-5)

(PR: 4)

The Giants had an up and down week on the East Coast. They lost 3 of 4 to the Mets but then dominated the Nationals so bad they cried. Carlos Rodon is providing the spark in the rotation, starting the season with a 1.09 ERA and 29 strikeouts through 3 starts.

2 - New York Mets (12-5)

(PR: 2)

The Mets took 3 of 4 from the Giants last week, really proving they belong among the MLB elite this season. Francisco Lindor is looking like his former MVP candidate-self. The Mets are one of the most well rounded teams in the league, ranking in the top 5 in every major team stat in both hitting and pitching.

1 - Los Angeles Dodgers (11-4)

(PR: 1)

Dodgers took 2 of 3 from both the Braves and Padres last week. Cody Bellinger looks like he has found his swing again and the Dodgers are getting production from the entire lineup. But the pitching has been the real key to their success as they lead MLB in team ERA, WHIP and BAA.
