NHL Power Rankings: Week 10

Week 9 has a lot of moves. This season is turning out to be quite interesting and we are seeing good teams start to find their way and unexpectedly good teams continue to surprise us all. All records are of the afternoon of 12.12.21.

#16 Vegas Golden Knights (15-11-0, 30 Points)

Previously Unranked

Vegas has a 6-4-0 split over their last 10. They are okay, not great. But they are in the positive split territory so that keep them relevant.

#15 Pittsburgh Penguins (14-8-5, 33 Points)

Previously Unranked

4 in a row helps you make it back into my list. Well done Pitt and thank you for beating the Ducks.

#14 Nashville Predators (16-10-4, 28 Points)

Previously Unranked

4 game winning streak and a move to the positive differential territory. I still don’t know what to think of them but great job thus far.

#13 Boston Bruins (14-8-2, 30 Points)

Unchanged

5 points out of a possible 6 points this week. That’s a solid effort for this team.

#12 Edmonton Oilers (16-10-0, 32 Points)

Previously #8

Learn to play against any team.

#11 Anaheim Ducks (15-9-5, 35 Points)

Previously #12

What a f**ing play Trevor Zegras. The videos of kids attempting to recreate this in practice has been fun to watch.

#10 St. Louis Blues (15-8-4, 34 Points)

Previously #15

There is a nice stretch for you Blues’ fans. 5 on 5 numbers could be better but hey they are winning, that’s all that matters sometimes.

#9 Colorado Avalanche (15-7-2, 32 Points)

Previously #10

3 game winning streak with a +24 goal differential, all coming after that lousy start. They back.

#8 Calgary Flames (15-7-6, 36 Points)

Previously #3

4 losses this week brings them back to the middle of the top 16. At least my team isn’t the only struggling Canadian team this week.

#7 Toronto Maple Leafs (19-8-2, 40 points)

Previously #9

Shoulder injury will sideline Marner for 3-4 weeks. Big question for him is if he makes Team Canada.

#6 Tampa Bay Lightning (17-6-4, 38 Points)

Previously #7

Tampa is doing fine without Kucherov, this time he should be back before they can stack the roster though. Watch out when he gets back.

#5 Washington Capitals (17-5-6, 40 Points)

Previously #6

How many goals will Alex Ovechkin end with this season? 40? 50?

#4 Minnesota Wild (19-7-1, 39 Points)

Unchanged

Minnesota has missed out on a single point in their last 10 games. Talbot is having a season so far…I miss him when he was like this.

#3 New York Rangers (18-5-3, 39 Points)

Previously #2

8-2-0 in their last 10 games. Its always good for hockey when the Rangers are doing well.

#2 Carolina Hurricanes (19-6-1, 39 Points)

Previously #5

And they back…3 wins this week, one against the offensively savvy Oilers. This team looks so good both defensively, offensively, and between the pipes. This may be my early pick for your Eastern Champ.

#1 Florida Panthers (18-4-4, 40 Points)

Unchanged

Florida continues to roll. 7-2-1 in their last 10. This team is talented and will be eyeing a deep run.
