NFL Waiver Wire Picks: Week 12

Teams on BYE: None

QB: Jake Browning – Cincinnati Bengals

-.1% rostered

-10.72 points against Baltimore Ravens

-8/14 for 68 yards and a TD. Added 4 rushes for 40 yards

It was honestly between Jake Browning and Tommy DeVito for this spot. First of all, there was no way I was going to pick anyone from that sorry-ass Giants teams and second of all, the Bengals are more equipped for success. Who is Jake Browning? I had to look up his Wikipedia page to learn about someone I didn’t know existed until last Thursday. It might not matter who he is as long as he is playing QB for the Bengals. They have a top 5 WR, a couple of top 20 WRs, a top 10 RB and a top 10 OLine. All he really has to do is make the simple throw and let everyone else do the work. It was impressive to see him put up 10 fantasy points in a half against a top defense. Up next, he plays against the Pittsburgh Steelers in his first ever start but again, the Steelers defense isn’t as good as they used to be.

RB: Keaton Mitchell – Baltimore Ravens

-35.1% rostered

-5.1 points against Cincinnati Bengals

-8 carries for 33 yards. Added 1 rec for 8 yards

Keaton Mitchell is as explosive as it gets at the RB position. He recently moved into and cemented himself as the #2 RB in Baltimore. HC John Harbaugh has come out and said (multiple times) that they need to get the ball in Mitchell’s hands more often. Game script simply did not allow that last game as they were ahead and had no threat of losing the lead but if it was a tighter game, there is no doubt in my mind that Mitchell would have gotten more carries and targets. Up next he plays against the Los Angeles Chargers who give up the 4th most points to opposing RBs.

WR: Jayden Reed – Green Bay Packers

-18.7% rostered

-19.2 points against Los Aneles Chargers

-4 receptions on 6 targets for 46 yards. Added 3 carries for 46 yards and a TD

At the beginning of the season, I thought that Christian Watson was the WR1 in Green Bay and then a few weeks later, I thought that Romeo Doubs was the WR1 in Green Bay but neither of these guys have been as productive as Jayden Reed has been over the last couple of weeks. 2 weeks ago he had 19.4 points and last week he had 19.2. He has been the GUY as of late. As talented as he is as a WR, he will also get an increase of work as a rusher as well. Aaron Jones figures to be out for a while so look for Reed to get more looks on Jet Sweeps or end arounds. I’m thinking the “Deebo Package” but not as successful. Either way, Reed is going to get opportunities to put up some fantasy points.

TE: Isaiah Likely – Baltimore Ravens

-.9% rostered

-0 points against Cincinnati Bengals

-Had 2 targets

The TE market is so tough. The main reason why I picked him is because Mark Andrews is out for the foreseeable future and possibly the rest of the season. Likely is likely to get more snaps moving forward (see what I did there?). There’s not much to go on from his production this season because he hasn’t really been involved but there were flashes of potential last year where he definitely passed the eye test. I mean the guy had a game where he went over 100 yards receiving as a TE and had 4 catches of 20+ yards. Those are great numbers. Here’s to hoping it translates to this year. Honestly, only pick this guy if you’re so so so desperate and play in a 20 team league or something.
