NFL Waiver Wire Picks: Week 4
QB: Jordan Love – Green Bay Packers
-47.6% Rostered
-24.26 points against New Orleans Saints
-22/44 for 259 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT. Added 9 carries for 39 yards and 1 TD
You guys didn’t listen after my week 2 Waiver Wire picks. He was a top 10 fantasy QB in week 3 and was a top 8 fantasy QB in week 3. So I’m running it back with Love and hoping you guys finally take my advice. Despite only completing 50% of his passes, he is riding high after that dramatic come from behind win against the Saints. He was about to showcase his rushing ability and we all know how important that is for a fantasy QB. Other good news includes the fact that WR Christian Watson and RB Aaron Jones should be back next which makes Love’s life so much easier. Up next Love faces the Detroit Lions who’s defense has been more cold than hot in recent weeks.
RB: De’Von Achane – Miami Dolphins
-16.1% rostered
-51.3 points against Denver Broncos
-18 carries for 203 yards and 2 TD. Added 4 receptions for 30 yards and 2 TD
I mean, why not? He scored an absurd amount of fantasy points in week 3 and there is reason to believe that this is not a one-off. Fact #1 – the Dolphins loved Achane before the season even started. There was talk about him being the starter this season over Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. But then he got injured and they slowly eased him back. He was finally fully active in week 3 and emerged with a 50+ point fantasy performance. Fact #2 – the Dolphins love using a 2 back system (See Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr after the trade deadline last year). Even if Achane isn’t the “Starting” running back, he will still get a ton of opportunities moving forward especially if this offense is as explosive as it has been. Fact #3 – Achane is a do it all type of back that is shifty, resilent and can be a force in the pass game. He is a fan favorite and he is hard to root against. TLDR (see what I did there?) go get him. You will not regret it.
WR: Tank Dell
-23.3% rostered
-25.5 points against Jacksonville Jaguars
-5 receptions on 7 targets for 145 yards and a TD
Do I dare to 2 callbacks on the same waiver wire article? Hell yeah! Tank Dell is the guy in Houston. A Houston team that is on its way up. Honestly, if you wanted a more complete explanation for why I like him so much, check out last weeks article. For this week though, all I can say is that he is going to get his. He has his own set of homerun plays where QB CJ Stroud just takes a shot downfield and Stroud loves taking that shot downfield. He has had 45.7 fantasy points over the last 2 weeks! Talk about fantasy superstar in the making.
TE: Donald Parham Jr. – Los Angeles Chargers
-.4% Rostered
-14.4 points against Minnesota Viking
-2 receptions on 2 targets for 4 yards and 2 TDs
Am I scraping at the bottom of the barrel here? Yes, yes I am but WR Mike Williams just tore his ACL is out of for the rest of the season. Williams was a big WR who was a favorite for QB Justin Herbert in the endzone because he could just throw the ball up and Williams would get it. Enter Donald Parham Jr. He is also a very very big man and all those vacated endzone targets will most likely go to him. You can see it in the last game against the Vikings. 2 catches that ended up being 2 TDs. It does not get any better than that. So far this season, Herbert has targeted Parham 4 times in the endzone. He won’t get as many snaps as TE Gerald Everett, but he is a serious threat in the endzone.
