NFL Power Rankings: Week 4

16 – Atlanta Falcons (2-1)

PR - 16

They lost against the Detroit Lions 6-20 but they are still in my top 16 because everyone else is worse. But to be fair, they had a tough tough game offensively. They were never able to get into rhythm because the offensive line played so poorly. QB Desmond Ridder was sacked 7 times. This is not the norm for this team. Expect better offensive line play moving forward.

15 – New Orleans Saints (2-1)

PR - 9

Complete an utter collapse against the Green Bay Packers resulting in a 17-18 loss. The Saints were up 17-0 in the 4th quarter but defense failed and the offense without QB Derek Carr couldn’t move the ball. There is some reasonable concern with this offense now that Carr is week-to-week. QB Jameis Winston certainly doesn’t inspire much confidence after his performance on Sunday.

14 – Los Angeles Chargers (1-2)

PR - NR

They finally won a game; against the wishes of their head coach, as Tradon likes to say. Defense is the number one issue for this team. The secondary is especially susceptible to big shot plays which is confusing because HC Brandon Staley is a defensive coach… maybe Tradon is onto something here.

13 – Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1)

PR - NR

The offense actually looked a little better! Albeit it was against the Raiders but still, it was a good starting point. The defense is still this teams strong suit and always will be. 4 sacks and 3 interceptions is always a good sign for any defense.

12 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1)

PR - 12

The Bucs have looked really good this season.. until Monday night against the Eagles. I can’t tell if the Bucs’ offense had an off night or if the Eagles’ defense is actually that good. Either way, the offense only put up a measly 174 yards on the night. Drops by WR Mike Evans were momentum stoppers in this game and I don’t see that happening much moving forward.

11 – Seattle Seahawks (2-1)

PR - NR

The Seahawks beat the 0-3 rebuilding Carolina Panthers but at what cost? They lost another 2 defensive starters to injuries. They might be competing with the Ravens on who has the biggest CVS receipt of injuries this year.

10 – Green Bay Packers (2-1)

PR - 15

A nice little come-from-behind 4th quarter victory can make anyone feel good, especially QB Jordan Love who only had a 50% competition percentage this week. Totally okay though, young QBs are bound to have tough games. I still have a ton of faith in him and his ability to be the GUY in Green Bay. Oh, and he finally (actually) gets WR Christian Watson and RB Aaron Jones back this week.

9 – Cleveland Browns (2-1)

PR - NR

I’m very hot and cold about this team. When I watch them, I think they are terrible but when I don’t watch the game and look at the stats, I think they are great. Either way, I am confused. Their exceptional defensive performance against the Titans this Sunday makes me lean more towards the latter, however. They held RB Derrick Henry to -7 yards in the first half. That is incredible.

8 – Dallas Cowboys (2-1)

PR - 2

Before the game Sunday, I was asked how low I’d drop the Cowboys if they lost to the Cardinals on Sunday and I told everyone that I would drop them out of the top 16. Wellllllllll, they lost to the Cardinals on Sunday but I cannot in good faith drop them out of the top 16 so here they are at 8. I think it’s a reasonable punishment for the team that lost to the Cardinals who were supposed to have the perfect, imperfect season.

7 – Detroit Lions (2-1)

PR - 8

The offense has been explosive for awhile now but the defensive line has been en fuego as of late. 7 sacks against the Falcons. DE Aiden Hutschinson is really coming into his own and has been the catalyst to this amazing pass rush.

6 – Baltimore Ravens (2-1)

PR - 7

So they lost to the lowly Colts. But it was a Colts team that had QB Gardner Minshew at the helm and you know to expect the unexpected whenever that man is on the field. Lets get back to the case in point though. The new look Ravens offense looked bad and had to rely on QB Lamar Jackson’s rushing ability to move the ball. The CVS receipt of injuries continues to grow.

5 – Kansas City Chiefs (2-1)

PR - 4

The Chiefs won big but they won big against the Chicago Bears. Cant really put much stock into a game like that. They looked really good. Any team looks good against the Chicago Bears. Next week against a good Jets defense will show me what I need to see.

4 – Buffalo Bills (2-1)

PR - 6

Bills’ defense showed out last game! 7 sacks and 4 interceptions. QB Josh Allen did not have to do much and he only threw for 218 yards and a TD but also threw another pick. I would like to see a game where he doesn’t do that this season.

3 – Philadelphia Eagles (3-0)

PR - 3

I have no idea why the Lions let RB D’Andre Swift go because he is absolutely going crazy (in the best way possible) for the Eagles. He has had 305 rushing yards in the last 2 games!! Maybe he is getting a ton of work because QB Jalen Hurts isn’t as confident as he was last year (see last week’s article) but either way, it is working wonders for this Eagles team.

2 – Miami Dolphins (3-0)

PR - 5

The Dolphins were a Field Goal away from breaking the NFL points record (72) and they decided not to do it. I guess they didn’t want to be a part of history. It’s stuff like this that is going to keep them from number 1 and winning a super bowl. Totally joking btw. They are a helluva super team and will continue to be great like this for the rest of the season.

1 – San Francisco 49ers (3-0)

PR - 1

The Dolphins put up 70 points last game and I still have the 49ers at #1. Do you want to know why? Please see last week’s article but if you don’t want to go that far back… im a homer, plain and simple. I do believe that their #1 ranking is warranted though. They have put up 30 points in every single game this season and still have injury problems, mis reads and just rusty play. The rest of the league might not want to hear this but once they figure it out, they are going to be a scary offense to try to stop.
