MLB Power Rankings: Week 10
12 - Atlanta Braves (35-27)
(PR: NR)
Well, well, well, look what the cat dragged in. The Braves have won 11-straight and have earned a wild card spot and are within striking distance of the Mets. Getting Ronald Acuna Jr back cannot be understated and he has started to really show signs of a MVP once again.
11 - Milwaukee Brewers (34-28)
(PR: 6)
The Brewers finally snapped an 8-game losing streak last week but this team is fading pretty fast. A once stable rotation has looked very beatable, minus Corbin Burnes, that dude is unreal.
10 - San Francisco Giants (34-26)
(PR: 11)
The Giants climb one spot in the rankings after a huge sweep of the rival Dodgers in San Francisco over the weekend. The pitching really shut down a great LA lineup, perhaps it could be a turning point for their rotation.
9 - Minnesota Twins (36-27)
(PR: 10)
The pitching depth of this team is a bit of a concern but this team knows how to score runs. They hold on to the division lead by 3.5 games entering this week.
8 - Tampa Bay Rays (35-25)
(PR: 9)
Copy and paste from last week. Rays keep doing their thing and bump up one spot in the rankings.
7 - St. Louis Cardinals (35-27)
(PR: 8)
As I predicted last week, the Cardinals have taken over the NL Central. They did so despite getting swept by the Rays but I continue to believe in this team. They get Jack Flaherty back this week which will add a huge boost to that rotation.
6 - Toronto Blue Jays (36-24)
(PR: 7)
Vlad Jr. has found his swing again and the Blue Jays are playing much better baseball. If it weren’t for the Yankees ridiculously great record, they would be much closer than 8 games back of the division. But it is a long season, you never know what can happen.
5 - Houston Astros (37-24)
(PR: 4)
The Astros have lost 5 of their last 7 games against teams they should be beating. Thankfully for them, the division lead is still holding strong at 7.5 games.
4 - San Diego Padres (38-24)
(PR: 5)
The Padres are slowly chipping away at the Dodgers for the NL West lead. They played very well against the Mets at home last week and it would not surprise me if they find themselves in first place by next week.
3 - New York Mets (40-22)
(PR: 3)
The Mets survived a scare last week when Pete Alonso’s x-rays came back negative after getting hit by a pitch in the hand. The number one offense is baseball is holding steady but the rise of the Braves has made a once comfortable division lead a little more interesting.
2 - Los Angeles Dodgers (37-23)
(PR: 2)
It’s not all sunshine and rainbows at the moment but if you take a step back, the Dodgers are still a great team. The loss of Walker Buehler hurts but they got Kershaw back and the pitching depth is one of the biggest strengths of this team.
1 - New York Yankees (44-16)
(PR: 1)
Another great week for the Yankees, going 5-1 against the Twins and Cubs. Aaron Judge is the early MVP, Nestor Cortez is the early Cy Young, and everything is going right in the Bronx.
